A Certified Examiner must be an active or Life CAPE member in good standing, must be a graduate of a polygraph school accredited by the American Polygraph Association (APA), and must have completed a minimum of 200 polygraph examinations, to include at least 25 specific issue examinations, within the two years prior to applying for certification. Additionally, a Certified Examiner must have completed at least eight hours of continuing professional education which has been approved by the Board of Directors of CAPE during the two years prior to application. The Certified Examiner must have attended at least one CAPE training seminar during the two years prior to application. Finally, an examiner's Certification has to be renewed every two years.
